Train

In 2021 Train was removed from the multipool and Ancient was added instead. A suitable replacement? Train has not been sent for rework, and there has been no talk of it returning to the competitive pool. However, there is great news: fragments of the map were spotted in one of Valve’s first CS2 videos. The less pleasant part, however, is that more than six months have passed since then.

Cache

Cache is a classic map for Counter-Strike. It was incredibly popular until the redesign in 2019. The new green version didn’t catch on among players. In the aftermath, Cache was not returned to the mapple. However, will it be in CS2?

Fmpone, a legend in the mapping world and the creator of the map, is working on porting several of his creations to the new game engine, including Cache. He has stated that the map is in for a complete redesign that will bring it back to its former popularity. This map, unlike the following ones, does not favor “run and gun” tactics and is aimed at team play. Given the low popularity of some maps in professional CS2 (especially Inferno), Prodigy is an excellent replacement – subject to minor adjustments to CS2 requirements. Older players will certainly be happy to see familiar textures.

Valve relies more on stability and very rarely makes any changes to the competitive map pool. So we can only wait and believe that the changes in the mappool will happen as soon as possible.
