All information about protection agents in CS2
Agents were introduced to the game on November 18, 2019. As of today, there are 29 agents available for the Defense or Counter-Terrorist side in the game. In this article, we will explain who the agents are, what classifications exist, how to obtain them, and which ones might provide an advantage in Counter-Strike 2.
Who are the Agents in CS2?
Agents in CS2 are purely cosmetic additions that change the appearance of the player. They replace the standard faction models and include more detailed features and accessories that are not available in the standard models. Unlike skins, agents do not have pattern indexes or wear values. The only differences between two identical agents can be the patches they have. Patches for agents are similar to stickers for skins. Agents can also have unique voice lines and cheers.
Classification of Attack Agents in CS2
As of the publication date, CS2 features four categories of agents, which are based on their rarity:
- Master Agents
- Superior Agents
- Exceptional Agents
- Distinguished Agents
The most prestigious and rare are the Master Agents. They have additional animations before and after a match, as well as several extra voice lines.

How to Obtain an Agent in CS2?
There are several ways to obtain agents in CS2. The first method is only available during in-game operations. During an operation, players can use a special shop to purchase agents. However, such operations are rare. The last operation was “Operation Riptide,” which ran from September 2021 to February 2022.
When operations are not ongoing, the only way to get an agent is through purchase or trade with other players. A variety of agents are available on the Steam Marketplace.
Which Agents Provide an Advantage in CS2?
The introduction of agents in CS sparked a wave of negative reactions from the community. Some of the new models simply blended in with the map textures, giving players an advantage.
With the release of CS2, most of these issues have been resolved. The developers put significant effort into reworking the lighting and map textures, as well as the player models themselves, to make them clearly distinguishable. It can now be confidently stated that agents in CS2 do not provide any advantage to their owners during matches.
Agents are simply another way to enhance the visual aspect of the game. They replace the standard player models and do not impact gameplay. Therefore, if you care about how your character looks, you can use this opportunity to improve their appearance.

6 September 2024I love how agents add a new layer of customization, but yeah, it’s good to know they don’t give any unfair advantage in CS2. Special Agent Ava is my favorite!
