All graffiti on maps in CS2 and the history of their appearances
There are several ways to write your name into the history of Counter-Strike 2 – get name stickers for participating in a major or draw a beautiful skin for a weapon, which will later be included in the collection and added to the game. However, among professional players there is a group of seven people who managed to distinguish themselves in a special way. In this article we will talk about graffiti on various maps in CS2, which are dedicated to the incredible actions of players.
Burning defender
At point B on the Overpass map, there is a yellow house with an image of a special forces soldier on fire. This is the first graffiti in the game, which appeared after Olof “olofmeister” Kyber in the semi-finals of ESL One Cologne 2014, defusing a C4 bomb, burning in flames from a Molotov cocktail.
The Swedish player managed to defuse the explosive a split second before his death, literally snatching the fifteenth round from the Dignitas team. The score on the map became 15:14. The next round was also won by Olof’s team, Fnatic.
This heroic defuse gave the team the victory on the map, in the match, and ultimately in the entire Major. In the final, Fnatic defeated Ninjas in Pyjamas with a score of 2:1.
Olofmeister’s Name Boost
The Swedish legend is the only player in the world to have two memorials dedicated to him, both of which are on the Overpass map. In the quarterfinals of DreamHack Winter 2014, Fnatic surprised Team LDLC with an unconventional boost on the CT spawn. This tactical move helped them come back from 3:12 down and win the map with a score of 16:13.
However, this boost was considered unfair: Olofmeister could see and kill his opponents while remaining invisible to them. As a result of the controversy, Fnatic conceded defeat in the match, and Team LDLC won the entire tournament. After the tournament, Valve fixed the possibility of such a boost and added a memorial plaque.
Flying AWP
On Mirage, behind the van at B, you can see an AWP with wings and four marks above the crosshair. This drawing was created by Marcelo “coldzera” David.
In the semifinals of MLG Major Championship: Columbus 2016, his team, Luminosity Gaming, played Team Liquid. At 9:15, the Brazilian team needed a miracle, and coldzera did it! Liquid players decided to use a proven tactic – rush B. Coldzera almost single-handedly with the AWP Asiimov stopped five opponents from coming out.
With four frags, including a no-scope kill of s1mple and EliGE – two CS:GO stars – coldzera showed a real master class. The moment is even more epic because after this performance, Luminosity Gaming pulled the map into extra rounds and won. Coldzera even got a tattoo of this icon on his right arm.
Descended from the Sky
There is a picture of s1mple with an AWP and wings on the Cache map. He can be found at the entrance to B on the defense side. The graffiti shows a sniper floating on wings, with his rifle scope falling down. Because who needs a scope when you can do such a miracle and win a round?
This legendary moment happened in the semi-finals of ESL One: Cologne 2016 and was so popular with the community that the graffiti even remained after the remake of the Cache map. Although it was missing from the first version of the updated map, it can now be found again in the very spot where both frags were made.
King of Banana
Did you know that the section of Inferno known as “banana” is actually called Adam Street? And this Adam is a familiar face to all CS fans. Back when NiP dominated for several years, Friberg was especially successful on the route to B.
Friberg has shown great performances on “banana” on numerous occasions, but his most memorable moment came in the grand final round of ESL One Cologne 2014. With an AK-47 Redline in hand, Adam single-handedly destroyed the entire Fnatic team, with three key kills coming from “banana”. Since Inferno was the decisive map that NiP eventually won, the significance of this moment cannot be overstated.
Phenomenal Grenade
Inferno again, and again a graffiti dedicated to a legendary moment in eSports. In the grand final of PGL Krakow Major 2017, one cleverly thrown grenade became the key to victory on the decisive map.
Gambit was confidently leading with a score of 9:1. In the eleventh round, Immortals players managed to reach the A site and plant C4, preserving the majority of living players. The remaining Gambit players decided not to try to knock out the bomb and went to save their weapons.
Then Dosia made a risky decision – he threw a grenade from the boiler into the “sands”. This decision completely justified itself. Immortals players stayed at the A site to survive the C4 explosion in the far corner. Usually, if you have full health, you will survive, but the grenade flew there just a few seconds before the explosion! Two players lost more than half of their health, and the bomb explosion finished them off. Two lost AK-47s, a ruined economy and a missed chance for a comeback!
Wolf on the Roof
The last graffiti for today is truly unique and will probably always remain one of a kind. It is located on the roof of one of the houses on the Blacksite map, which was used for the show match in the battle royale format at IEM Katowice Major 2019.
At the end of the show match, Furlan was left in the minority, facing SPUNJ and jks, who played in a team. Realizing that it would be difficult for one to cope with two opponents, Furlan turned on the mode of a real strategic genius. He determined the location of the enemies by the trajectory of the delivery drone, snuck up on them on the roof and, hearing footsteps, attacked. SPUNJ and jks did not expect an attack from above. Furlan first took out one, then changed his position and finished off the second.
Now on the roof that brought the player victory in the match, there is a graffiti depicting a wolf and the autographs of Furlan and GruBy. They were the winners of this battle royale.
Unfortunately, for every graffiti there are hundreds of highlights that are less fortunate than those listed above. However, these graffiti and highlights will remain in the memory of fans forever. Remember, CS2 is a game, and you should enjoy the game!
