How to accurately throw grenades in CS2 without jumpthrow
Valve has released a small but very important update for Counter-Strike 2. The developers have banned the use of binds that include more than one movement or action — they simply will no longer work (such as jumpthrow or forward jumpthrow). In this article, we will explain how to accurately throw grenades in CS2 without using the jumpthrow bind.
What is Jumpthrow?
Binds have long been a staple of Counter-Strike for both casual players and professionals. One of the fundamental binds in CS2 was the jumpthrow. It allowed players to throw grenades with a jump by pressing a single button, ensuring that the timing of the jump and throw was perfectly synchronized, making the throw as accurate as possible.
Community Reaction to the Jumpthrow Ban
Despite being inactive, s1mple did not stay silent and commented on the jumpthrow ban. The former NAVI sniper was not pleased with the changes.
“Valve banned the jumpthrow? They decided to destroy the fundamentals of the early stages of this game — idiots decided to bully us.”
— s1mple
dev1ce also reacted negatively to the update.
“An impossible task for Valve: to take a step forward without stepping three steps back.”

Twistzz hopes that Valve will bring back the ability to use the jumpthrow in CS2 in the future.
“It would be nice to know about jumpthrow, as it is an integral part of the game at the moment. I hope this is just a test.
Also, the update came out a day before the closed quals for the RMR. As far as I know, any grenade that required a forward throw is no longer possible.”

The community has already started generating memes in response to the latest update. This is how grenade throws on Mirage will look now:
How to Effectively Throw Grenades in CS2 Without Jumpthrow
Since Valve has officially banned any form of action automation, it’s best not to take risks or try to reinvent the wheel. In CS2, the developers have done a lot of work to make accurate grenade throws possible without any special scripts or binds. Therefore, the best approach is to practice and learn how to throw grenades manually.
Replacement for Jumpthrow:
To achieve the functionality of the jumpthrow bind now, you need to jump and throw the grenade simultaneously. The accuracy of such throws in CS2 is very high, making it difficult to miss.
Replacement for Forward Jumpthrow:
The functionality of the forward jumpthrow bind is slightly more complex than a simple jumpthrow. You need to perform three actions simultaneously: crouch, throw the grenade, and press the W key. After a few practice sessions, executing such a throw is more than doable, but 100% accuracy is not guaranteed. To maintain consistent throws, you need to practice regularly.
Everything is fine actually, good bye jump binds. 👋 pic.twitter.com/2WBAQZxkPO

Disabling the ability to use various binds is not a problem, but only a temporary inconvenience. Nothing catastrophic has happened. A person is such a creature that easily adapts to life conditions, and CS2 fans will adapt to the lack of binds.

6 September 2024The jumpthrow ban is a big change, but honestly, it’s forcing everyone to improve their manual skills. Time to get practicing!
